This morning in the house, I responded to concerns regarding the cruise ship industry and recent US legislation that temporarily allows Alaska-bound ships to bypass Canadian ports. This measure has a sunset-clause which coincides with our federal government’s ban on cruise ship travel. The ban was put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19 and when it is lifted in February 2022, Prince Rupert will be ready and happy to receive passengers once again.
The province will continue to support and defend BC’s tourism industry, as well as all the people, businesses and communities who depend on it.
