Funding and Staffing Increases to Help Seniors

Posted in: , , , ,

Staff in residential care homes work incredibly hard and do a fantastic job. We’ve seen this first hand at the Acropolis Manor in Prince Rupert. When residential care homes are understaffed, staff are challenged to deliver the level of care seniors deserve. That is why we’re working to provide the staffing needed to make life better for seniors and the people who care for them. By investing $240 million over three years, your government will increase the number of not only healthcare aides and nurses, but also physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other allied healthcare workers.

This is in addition to:

– Dedicated funding to support seniors to stay in their own homes
– Expanded respite care and adult day programs to better support families and caregivers
– Increasing funding to expand 384 new health-care aide seats each in 11 post-secondary institutions in B.C.
