Commercial fishing on the North Coast is more than a profession, it’s a lifestyle that connects people to each other, to their communities and the surrounding environment. Beyond profit margins, commercial fishers also contribute to the social fabric and food security for remote and rural areas.
The ceilings of the Legislature have paintings of the four foundational industries of British Columbia: mining, forestry, farming and fishing. After many years of BC Liberal neglect, I think we can do a better job of supporting our commercial fishers.
