The other day, I spoke to the private member’s motion: Be it resolved that this House support real opportunity for Indigenous communities in British Columbia
Our government has recognized that providing opportunities for Indigenous people must go beyond merely supporting resource development.
Through funding the restoration and promotion of Indigenous languages, we’re helping communities provide real opportunities for young people, adults and seniors to learn their language and reconnect with their culture.
Sharing gaming revenues provides Indigenous communities with steady and predictable funding, which gives First Nation leadership real opportunities for self-determination and to create stronger communities.
I’m proud of the work we’re doing in partnership with Indigenous communities so that, for the first time, we have a real opportunity for reconciliation in British Columbia.
