Prince Rupert — MLA Rice has issued the below statement for Transgender Day of Remembrance:

“Today on Transgender Day of Remembrance we remember all Transgender, Two-Spirit, Gender-non-Conforming, and Non-Binary people lost to violence. This day highlights the losses faced by the Trans community due to anti-trans prejudice and discrimination. While much progress has been made for Trans rights and equality, discrimination still exists, and we still have a lot of work to do. Trans people still face violence and hate. A shockingly high number attempt or are lost to suicide. To all those Transgender, Two-Spirit, Gender-non-Conforming, and Non-Binary lives who the world has lost to violence or suicide: we remember you. And to every Trans, Two-Spirit, Gender-non-Conforming and Non-Binary person out there: we value, support and love you.”
