Government invests $100 million in the northwest

Fantastic news for Prince Rupert & the Northcoast ! With Premier John Horgan today your B.C. BC NDP government announced a $100 million dollar grant for Northwest communities including 8 million for Prince Rupert. This funding can go towards our aging infrastructure such as the water supply, paving roads and revitalizing the downtown core.

The rich resources and hard-working people of the northwest have long contributed more than their fair share to the prosperity of our province. The benefits of that success have been slow to flow back to our region, leaving our communities with aging infrastructure that doesn’t meet our needs or the needs of industry. Premier John Horgan has been listening to northern communities about the need for critical infrastructure and planning funding to prepare for development opportunities. That’s why we’re reversing the legacy of neglect with the new $100 million Northern Capital and Planning Grant that will help communities and the people who live there make the most of new opportunities, so that the benefits of resource development are felt for years to come.
