MLA Jennifer Rice Defends Revenue Sharing with First Nations

Posted in: ,

For years First Nations have advocated for a share of lottery revenues.

First Nations leaders have described revenue sharing as the single most important action the provincial government could take to ease poverty and begin to close the economic and social gap for all First Nations. While the previous government did nothing to share gaming revenues with First Nations, your New Democrat government is taking concrete steps to make that wish by First Nations leadership a reality.

I was shocked and saddened to hear some of the comments made by the opposition. Assisting First Nations governments in building capacity and creating better futures for their members is the right thing to do in the spirit of reconciliation and should have been done years ago.
