A new economy in tourism is changing lives of people in Klemtu. I agree with Chief Doug Neasloss of the Kitasoo/Xai’xais when he says “Bears are more valuable alive.” The Spirit Bear Lodge in Klemtu is an example of how the people living in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest are shifting the way they do things.
